Role: ABB Robotics Engineer

Location: Bedfordshire (with regular UK-wide travel)

Salary: Up to £70,000 depending on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented ABB Robotics Engineer to join a dynamic and growing engineering team within a leading automation project delivery business. This role is ideally suited to candidates with strong hands-on experience in ABB robotic systems, particularly those familiar with IRC5 controllers and RobotStudio, looking to contribute to cutting-edge industrial automation projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver automation solutions using ABB robots (primarily IRC5-controlled systems).
  • Program and simulate robotic operations using ABB RobotStudio.
  • Lead on-site commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of robotic cells.
  • Integrate robotic systems with PLCs, vision systems, sensors, and other automation components.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults related to robotic equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and industry regulations.
  • Deliver training and technical support to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in automation and manufacturing efficiency.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with ABB robotic systems.
  • Strong proficiency in ABB RAPID programming and RobotStudio offline programming.
  • Deep understanding of IRC5 controller architecture.
  • Solid troubleshooting abilities across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
