Leicestershire (Field-based with weekly UK-wide travel)

Dependant on Experience

We are partnering with a fast-growing automation solutions provider delivering flexible, pay-as-you-go robotics and automation services to the manufacturing sector. With no CapEx or long-term contracts, their unique business model removes traditional barriers to entry, helping clients streamline internal logistics with minimal disruption. As part of their ambitious growth plans, they are now seeking a hands-on Automation & Robotics Engineer to support solution delivery from concept to commissioning.

About the Role:

As an Automation & Robotics Engineer, you will play a vital role in the full project lifecycle, from initial client engagement through design, build, programming, testing, installation, and commissioning. Working directly with customers across the UK, this field-based position is ideal for an engineer who thrives on variety, autonomy, and direct impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support sales team through client site visits and on-site demos
  • Conduct feasibility assessments and develop automation solutions
  • Design mechanical, electrical, and control systems in collaboration with internal teams
  • Assemble, configure, and build systems aligned with specifications
  • Own PLC programming (primarily Siemens), including development, testing, and fault-finding
  • Install, commission, and hand over solutions at client sites, including training and documentation

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in automation, robotics, or a similar engineering role
  • Knowledge of PLCs (preferably Siemens)
  • Experience of electronic installations
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, agile team
  • Experience with AGVs, AMRs, or industrial automation systems
  • Background in lean manufacturing or process improvement

Benefits:

  • Access to a company vehicle, laptop, and phone
  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of automation innovation
  • Supportive, tight-knit team with big ambitions and exciting growth plans
  • Comprehensive benefits package including private healthcare, death in service (4x salary), critical illness cover, income protection, and 8% pension
  • Direct impact on project outcomes and client success
  • 35 days annual leave including bank holidays
