Rise10 Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Control Panel Wireman to join an established engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in electrical wiring, panel building and electrical engineering.

The position is ideally offered on a permanent basis, however, temporary candidates are also encouraged to apply and could provide an immediate solution while a permanent appointment is being secured.

The Role

Working within a workshop-based engineering environment, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring and preparing electrical control panels and enclosures to detailed drawings and specifications.

You’ll work alongside other engineers to ensure panels are built to a high standard, with accuracy, quality and attention to detail being essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Wiring control panel backplates and door-mounted components to electrical schematics and drawings.
• Wiring electrical components accurately and efficiently.
• Building and assembling metal/steel electrical enclosures and panels.
• Cutting and modifying steel enclosures in line with supplied drawings.
• Installing mains power cables and ensuring the correct cable sizes and lugs are used.
• Installing and connecting power and earth cables.
• Correctly crimping and ferruling cables.
• Applying cable identification markers and component labels.
• Using dedicated printing equipment to produce wire markers and labels.
• Ensuring electrical connections are tightened to the required torque settings.
• Working closely with other engineers to achieve the required panel layout and specification.
• Maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout the build process.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has practical experience in an electrical or engineering environment and is confident working with control panels.

• Previous experience in electrical wiring.
• Experience building or assembling metal electrical panels/enclosures.
• A background in electrical engineering.
• Previous experience working within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and work from electrical drawings/schematics.
• Good attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
• A driving licence is required, while an FLT/Counterbalance licence would be advantageous.

You’ll be a practical, reliable and hands-on engineer who takes pride in doing a good job. You should be comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player.

Good communication skills and a positive attitude are important, as you’ll be working closely with other members of the engineering team.

The Package

• £14.00–£18.00 per hour, depending on experience.
