Role: Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Nottinghamshire

Salary: Up to £42,000

This role is ideal for an Electrical Design Engineer with experience in Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems, EPLAN Pro Panel, and AutoCAD. It’s perfect for someone with a background in automation architectures, inverters, and control wiring, especially in the logistics or warehousing sectors. If you have 5+ years of design experience and are eager to grow within a leading company, this is a great opportunity.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineers in the controls department to guide projects through hardware design phases.
  • Create schematic drawings for control cabinets and field installations using EPLAN Pro Panel (EPLAN Electric P8 with 3D panel layouts).
  • Use AutoCAD LT to create device layouts for installations.
  • Work to tight and demanding deadlines, ensuring adherence to project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and manage project requirements, including potential penalties for delays.
  • Be prepared to work overtime to meet business demands and project deadlines.

Skills and Experience:

  • Totally conversant with either Allen Bradley or Siemens control systems
  • Extensive knowledge of automation architectures and network layers
  • Extensive knowledge of PROFINET or EtherNET/IP networks for distributed systems
  • In-depth knowledge of inverters and control wiring, preferably SEW
  • Experience of designing a control system to a set budget
  • Experience of AS-i systems
  • Experience of safety system architectures to be produced in SISTEMA
  • Comfortable working at LV and calculating volt drop & current limits on circuits
  • Some understanding of how a PLC system should be structured
  • Demonstrate ability to work on projects without assistance with the value of £80k to £30M+
  • Must be from an industrial sector; logistics warehousing, distribution centre or fulfilment experience preferred
  • Understanding of warehouse design, material handling equipment
  • Electrical-biased apprenticeship, at least five years of design experience with proven performance on 20+ projects valued at £500k+, HND in Electrical Engineering or above, or at least three years of design experience with similar proven performance.
