As they continue to expand, we’re are seeking an experienced commercially minded Financial Controller to play a key role in shaping their financial strategy and driving business performance across multiple divisions.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial reporting that enhances decision-making and supports continued growth.
You’ll lead a small finance team to oversee budgeting & forecasting, strengthen our financial systems & controls and compliance across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including group consolidation.
- Conduct variance and trend analyses across multiple business units.
- Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify automation and process enhancement opportunities.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to define system requirements and implement improvements.
- Champion financial systems best practices across departments.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling cashflow forecasting processes.
- Provide strategic insights to inform business planning and growth initiatives.
Operational Finance
- Oversee job costing analysis, sales, and purchase ledger functions.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled promptly.
- Manage vendor relationships and support year-end audit and tax processes.
- Ensure full compliance with HMRC, CIS, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Supervise accurate payroll record management.
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor finance team members, fostering development and performance excellence.
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in group consolidation, financial reporting and analysis.
- Preferably technically proficient in Xero and SAP (but not essential) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Excellent analytical, presentation and leadership abilities.
