Rise10 Recruitment are working with a leading UK engineering manufacturer specialising in the design and build of bespoke special purpose machinery and automated systems who are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing technical team.  This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-precision engineering projects. You’ll be involved in the full design lifecycle, from concept through to manufacture, installation, and commissioning support.

The role offers variety, technical challenge, and the chance to develop innovative engineering solutions within a highly skilled and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the full design lifecycle from concept through to detailed design and release
  • Produce 3D CAD models of mechanical systems, special purpose machinery, jigs, fixtures, and automated systems using Autodesk Inventor Professional
  • Create, check, and approve 2D manufacturing, assembly, testing, and installation drawings to BS8888 standards
  • Participate in and lead design reviews in line with internal procedures and customer requirements
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and manufacturable
  • Define design requirements for testing, installation, and system integration
  • Contribute to multiple high-value engineering projects simultaneously within a dynamic team environment

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience using a 3D CAD modelling package in a design environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles
  • Ability to select appropriate materials and components for engineering applications
  • Clean driving licence preferred (use of own vehicle required)

Desirable Skills (Not Essential)

  • Autodesk Inventor experience
  • Hands-on manufacturing or assembly experience
  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems design
  • Familiarity with Machinery Directive, LOLER, and related standards
  • Experience in special purpose machinery, jigs, and fixture design
  • Automotive industry experience
