Sales Manager 

UK-wide (field-based with regular national travel; weekly office day in Leicestershire)

As this company continues its growth journey and accelerates the adoption of its automation solutions across the UK, they are seeking a commercially minded Sales Manager eager to play a hands-on role in shaping their future success.

This proactive field sales role focuses on converting active customer demand and developing new opportunities. The Sales Manager will conduct site surveys, understand client operations, recommend the right combination of solutions, and produce proposals that clearly demonstrate ROI. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a chance to make a real impact in a business that values innovation, collaboration, and autonomy.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Customer Engagement & Sales Execution: Conduct on-site surveys to assess client environments, identify automation opportunities, build compelling value propositions, write and deliver professional proposals and commercial quotations, manage pipeline activity, follow-ups, and relationship building, negotiate pricing and contracts to secure profitable business.
  • Market Development: Convert a strong volume of existing high-quality inbound enquiries, proactively generate new business as the market expands, support and attend exhibitions across the UK and Ireland where required.
  • Collaboration & Representation: Work closely with engineering and operations to scope solution feasibility, ensure a smooth customer experience through start-up and deployment, represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Travel & Presence: UK-wide travel, with overnight stays as needed, minimum of one day per week working from head office for knowledge sharing and team bonding.

About You 

  • Minimum 5+ years of technical solution sales experience — ideally in automation, robotics, AGVs/AMRs or industrial technology.
  • Strong communication, consultative selling, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to understand operational workflows and tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Highly organised with strong proposal creation skills.
  • UK market knowledge with a clean UK driving licence.
  • Self-starter with ambition to progress and contribute to commercial strategy.

Desirable:

  • Experience in logistics, warehouse automation or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience selling capital or technical equipment solutions.
  • Familiarity with process improvement/lean operational workflows.
